This Amitabha Buddha statue is crafted from bronze and adorned with traditional gilt (gold leaf pounding) technique. After years of weathering, the gilt layer is mottled yet lustrous, revealing the rich texture of aged copper patina. Strictly following the iconographic rules of Ming Dynasty Han-Tibetan syncretic style, the Buddha features dark blue spiral hair curls, a prominent ushnisha, a plump and serene face with half-closed eyes, embodying the tranquil and compassionate demeanor of the Enlightened One who delivers all beings from suffering. Clad in a right-shoulder-exposed kasaya, the robe patterns are smoothly carved with distinct folds, fitting the body naturally while exuding rhythmic grace, showcasing the craftsmen’s precise mastery of human anatomy and sartorial aesthetics in the Ming era. Seated in full lotus position on a double-tiered lotus throne with plump and orderly petals—an iconic feature of Ming Buddhist statues—symbolizing the pure land free from defilements.
As a fine artwork of cultural integration between Han and Tibetan traditions in the Ming Dynasty, this statue combines the dignified grandeur of Han Chinese Buddhist art with the ritual precision of Tibetan iconography, representing the quintessence of Eastern classical aesthetics and Buddhist faith. The mottled gilt layer harmonizes with the aged copper base, every detail carrying the charm of time and the artisan’s devotion. Sincere veneration of this sacred icon brings the compassionate blessings of Amitabha Buddha, protecting devotees with physical and mental well-being, enduring fortune and wisdom, and guiding beings to the Western Pure Land. Adhering to our philosophy of reviving ancient Eastern aesthetics, we carry forward the timeless spirit of Buddhism, bringing inner peace and tranquility to all who connect with it.
