Using supernatural powers, he subdued them all and compelled them to vow protection of Dharma. Most notable was “Baihaer,” originally a Bon war god transformed into Buddhist protector. This statue’s tiger-riding posture visually recreates this event—the tiger symbolizes untamed force; Padmasambhava represents ultimate wisdom transforming it completely.
