This statue is integrally cast of refined bronze via lost-wax casting, inscribed with dedication mark “Donated in Yongle Reign of Great Ming Dynasty” on reverse, imitating early Ming imperial statuary aesthetic, finished with composite mineral polychrome, gilding and silver tracing craft.

This statue is folk artwork of Taoist-Buddhist syncretism from Yuan-Ming dynasties: both ‘Jiu Tian Xuan Nü’ and Tang Esoteric Mahamayuri preside over dispelling evil and misfortune, folk craftsmen replaced original phoenix with peacock for symbolic resonance, also adopting Buddhist Anjali Mudra & peacock iconography, it is folk modified artistic design rather than orthodox Taoist regulation.
